Perrelet Double Rotor Titanium Calibre P-181
I am really impressed with the Perrelet Double Rotor Titanium P-181 watch and the entire Perrelet titanium watch collection. This one has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with 6 layers of non-reflective treatment on both sides. The 43.5 mm wide and 13.6 mm tall case is made of solid titanium. Titanium is almost twice as strong as steel all while being about half the weight. Titanium is also anti-allegric and very resistant to corrision. Perrelet used a natural rubber strap which is actually organic. Like titanium, natural rubber is extremely biocompatible and anti-allergic. They finished it all off with a solid titanium folding clasp. The use of carbon fiber accents on the dial and the exhibition caseback were two extra nice touches that add further appeal. Eterna Porsche Design Indicator P6910
Porsche Design does not specialize in the manufacturing of high-end watches or writing instruments. What they do specialize in is the design of such products. They may not manufacture the watches or pens that display their name, but the companies they have sourced, definitely do. Eterna and Graf Von Faber-Castell are well respected companies, so when you buy a watch or pen with the Porsche Design name, you know it is well made. The Porsche Design indicator is the perfect example, it is the only chronograph in the world which is equipped with a mechanical-digital stopwatch display.
Hugo Boss Watch Collections
MGI Luxury Group (Movado watches) took over the Hugo Boss wristwatch license in 2004 and they re-launched the brand at BaselWorld 2006. They have come up with several collections: Boss Black, Boss Orange, Boss Green and Hugo. The "Hugo" line has not yet been introduced, although it sounds like they are planning a 2009 Baselworld intro. They have been able to combine some costs to provide a lower cost to consumers, which is definitely necessary when you are dealing with a watch brand with so little watch history. Overall they look nice, but I really wonder if they will ever have the same appeal as their fashion line.
